[ marni junk food ]

On Sunday we decided to pay yet another visit to the “Starving Artist Bar” for brunch and in tune with its untraditional, edgy vibe, I felt like rebelling against my own natural inclinations and wearing  something in a way that is new to me. When looking though my closet(s), I stumbled upon the orange, wrinkled Marni skirt that I used for the Revolve contest and instinctively began to look for some silk top to pair it with. This is where that momentary rebellion kicked in and settled on the Junk Food tee. Over my university years, my collection of Junk Food vintage-inspired, graphic tees grew pretty large but I hardly even glance in their direction now a days. The revival of one of those long forgotten tees, in combination with this wild skirt, culminated in what I call “Marni junk food’ because that’s basically what this look is is in multiples senses of its meaning.

What I’m wearing:

  • T-shirt by “Junk Food”
  • Wrinkled linen skirt by “Marni”
  • Long necklace by “BLMA Venezia Italy”
  • Short necklace by “BLMA Venezia Italy”
  • Straw pumps by “Betsey Johnson”

  1. I love love love this Marni-skirt. this outfit looks so SATC carrie Bradshaw 2001 like. na d I love it! You're gorgeous and your blog too.

      1. Initially just for my wisdom teeth extraction, but then I got dry sockets (which = incredible pain) so my recovery period's been bumped for another week or two. The eating part is the worst for me…as someone who loves food, Jell-O and smoothies doesn't really cut it lol.

        1. Oh that sucks. I remember when I got my wisdom teeth removed (all 4) at one time, I was in bed for like a week, and apparently it went more or less smoothly. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you right now with the complications and everything. Hope it end soon and you get your benny's on too :). Get well soon dear Alexandra!!!

  2. I love how your hair is done, it's so glamorous! The skirt is lovely, linen for summer is essential, but I feel like I rarely see it in orange.

    1. I know what you mean Ash. There tends to be this color pallet for linen clothes of beige, off-white, white and sometimes brown and that's pretty much it. Well marni is known for undermining the “traditional” and I'm glad. We need more variety.

    1. Lol, funny you should ask. I just had a bunch of hairspray still in my hair from the day before, when I worked on set. When I thought of taking a shot of me leaning against the door I just let my hair down, tossed it a bit and leaned. That's basically how that hairdo happen – purely accidental.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

  3. When I first started following your blog, it was because of this skirt! It's gorgeous and you really know how to pair it with all the right pieces to create a striking ensemble. Great work, once again 🙂

    1. I know what you mean about graphic tees and that's why I hardly ever wear them anymore. I remember a few years ago when they were so “in” and I was crazy about wearing junk food tees with blazers.
      Thanks for the comment 😉
